How to edit a PDF online

  1. Open your PDF. Drop a file or press Open or add PDF. Add more PDFs to merge them.
  2. Edit. Use Edit text to change or delete existing words, Add text for new text, and Draw, Highlight or Whiteout for the rest. Rotate, reorder, delete or add blank pages from the toolbar.
  3. Save. Press Save PDF. Tick Flatten if you need covered text removed for good.

Search inside a PDF

Type a word in the Find in PDF box (or press Ctrl+F). Every match is highlighted, and the arrows jump to the next or previous match, even on another page. Scanned pages can be searched after you run OCR.

Edit the words already in a PDF

With Edit text selected, every block of text in the PDF is outlined. Click one, change the words and press Enter. The original is covered with the colour of the page behind it and your new text is placed in the same spot. New text uses a standard font, so it may look slightly different from the original. Clear the box and press Enter to delete the words.

Scanned PDFs and OCR

A scanned PDF is a picture of a page, so there are no words to edit. The editor detects this and offers to run OCR, which reads the text from the image. After that you can edit the recognised words and save a searchable PDF. OCR is never perfect, so check names, numbers and dates before you use them.

Good to know

Typed text supports Latin characters only when saving. Covered text can remain inside the file unless you tick Flatten. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Text rotated on the page, or on a page you have rotated, cannot be picked with Edit text, but you can still use Whiteout and Add text.

Questions

Is this PDF editor really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, watermark or page limit. The editor and the OCR both run free in your browser.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Editing and OCR happen on your own device. Your files are never sent to our server. The OCR engine and its language data are downloaded from a public CDN the first time you use OCR.

How do I edit or delete the words already in a PDF?

Open the PDF and choose Edit text. Click any highlighted word block, type the new text and press Enter, or clear it and press Enter to delete it. The old text is covered with the page colour and the new text is added on top.

Does deleting text remove it from the file?

Covering hides it visually but it can stay hidden inside the file. Tick Flatten before saving to turn the pages into images, which removes covered text for good. Flattened pages are no longer selectable unless you run OCR first.

How do I edit a scanned PDF?

The editor tells you when a PDF looks scanned. Press Run OCR now, wait for it to finish, then use Edit text on the recognised words. Saving after OCR also makes the PDF searchable.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Undo and Redo (also Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y) cover edits, rotation, deleted pages and page order. Clear page removes all changes from the current page, and you can undo that too.

How accurate is the OCR?

Clear, upright, printed English text usually reads well. Blurry scans, handwriting and Indian-language text are less accurate, so check numbers and dates by eye.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a photo to 3.5 × 4.5 cm?

Tap 'Passport 3.5×4.5 cm' under Quick sizes, add your photo, and press Resize. The tool uses 200 DPI, which gives 276 × 354 pixels. Change the DPI if your form needs a different value.

Will resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger than the original can look blurry, because no new detail is added.

How do I resize and also reduce the file size in KB?

Resize here first, then use the JPEG compressor on the home page to bring it under the KB limit.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never sent to any server.
